CHILD LOSES THREE FINGERS IN MUMBAI ESCALATOR ACCIDENT
A toddler in Mumbai, India, lost three fingers after his hand got stuck in the handrail of a shopping mall escalator, the Times of India reports. The 22-month-old boy was holding his father’s hand as they walked through the mall on February 25 when the child broke away and tried to climb onto a downward-moving escalator. The child lost his balance, and his hand got caught in a gap in the rail, severing the middle, ring and little finger of his right hand. His father rushed the boy to a hospital, but doctors were unable to reattach the fingers. A police investigation has been launched, but mall officials said the escalator was inspected, and no technical issues were found.
